The electric supercar maker plans to launch a robotaxi with backing from Kia. Project 3 is based in Croatia, with a research center in the UK. Electrek’s Take Kia is set to unveil its new purpose-built EVs next week. Once up and running, Kia plans to produce 150,000 units per year.

Under the new partnership, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors Corporation will each invest €64 million and €16 million, respectively, for a total combined investment of €80 million in Rimac. Rimac was founded in 2009 by Mate Rimac as a garage project in Croatia with the vision to build the sports car of the 21 st century.

This growth can be attributed to key markets such as Germany, Spain and France, as well as five other markets (Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Estonia and Luxembourg), which posted double digit growth. Hyundai and Kia also increased market share in the segment due to the strong performances of the Kona and Stonic SUVs.
