The Atto 3, 's first global passenger car to target overseas markets, has already introduced to countries including Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia and Costa Rica, as well as Europe.

As BYD's first globalized passenger car for targeting overseas markets, the Atto 3 is being introduced to a growing number of countries.

On October 10, BYD announced the debut of a long-range version of the BYD Atto 3 in a launch event co-hosted with its Thai partner Rêver Automotive, according to a company press release.

This is BYD's latest move in Thailand, where the new energy vehicle (NEV) maker signed a land purchase agreement with Thai industrial property developer WHA Industrial Development PLC, a subsidiary of the WHA Group, last month.

BYD will build its first electric vehicle plant in Southeast Asia in Thailand, where it expects to start production in two years with an annual capacity of more than 150,000 units, according to a previous press release from WHA.

On the same day as that launch in Thailand, BYD also hosted the local launch of the Atto 3 in Laos with its partner MOK Co Ltd.

BYD entered the Lao market in 2009, and in October 2019, it became the first NEV brand to bring electric vehicles to Laos when it began opening stores in partnership with MOK to sell models including the Yuan EV and Tang EV.

From January to September, BYD delivered a total of 360 electric vehicles to Laos, according to the company.

To date, BYD has more than 2,000 vehicles in Laos, and the company ranks No. 1 in the Lao pure electric vehicle market, it said.

Laos aims to reach a 15 percent penetration of NEVs by 2025 and more than 50 percent by 2030.

In addition to Thailand and Laos, BYD officially entered the country's passenger car market with the launch of the Atto 3 in India on October 11. BYD has previously sold electric buses and electric vehicles in India to corporate customers.

BYD has allowed Indian consumers to pay 50,000 rupees ($610) to reserve the model, but its official price has not yet been announced. The company has promised that the first 500 units will be delivered starting in January 2023.

"We intend to sell 15,000 units of BYD Atto 3 in India over the next year and plan to set up a local manufacturing facility in due course," BYD India Executive Director Ketsu Zhang said in a statement, adding that the company had invested more than $200 million in India.

The BYD Atto 3, known as the Yuan Plus in China, was officially launched on February 19.

The model has a length, width and height of 4,455 mm, 1,875 mm and 1,615 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

The BYD Yuan Plus sold in China is powered by a motor with a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 7.3 seconds.

The model is equipped with a blade battery with an energy density of 150 Wh/kg using lithium iron phosphate chemistry and is available in two range versions.

It has a combined CLTC range of 430 km with a 49.92 kWh battery pack and 510 km with a 60.48 kWh battery pack.

The model was released in China when it was opened for pre-order in Australia under the Atto 3 name.

As of now, the BYD Atto 3 is available in more countries, including New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Costa Rica, and Europe.
