Open Source Civic EV Kit

After spending the past year and a half converting a Porsche 914 to an electric vehicle, I decided to expand my horizons by designing an open-source electric vehicle (EV) conversion kit for a commonly used car. There are already commercially available kits with excellent, detailed instructions for how to convert a vehicle.

We chatted about the blown CCPower DC-DC converter and the engine vibrations. Since I fixed the DC-DC converter, we agreed that I would try to find out which conditions would cause it to blow again, if it does. It seems that Mike is more of a mechanical person than an electronics person.

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. We'll also be taking Burning Man art projects off petroleum generators by switching them to solar electricity.

April 10, 2009 10:06 pm Link I make, convert and drive EV’s and have for 13 yrs. And with EV maintenance you are less exposed to being ripped off buy the ICE car repairman. — Jeff U 6. Lead batts are around 98% recycled. In EV’s they do need replacing in about 5 yrs if done right.
