As BMW bring to an end the first round of BMW Mini E lease schemes in the U.K, drivers in New York, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, Boston and Connecticut can look forward to signing up to help BMW test its ActiveE, two years before its MegaCity EV hits the market.

The BMW ActiveE ( earlier post ) will be available for lease in the metropolitan markets of Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Sacramento, New York and Boston as well as the state of Connecticut beginning in Fall 2011 for $499 per month for 24 months with a down payment $2,250. The BMW ActiveE is based on the BMW 1 Series Coupe.

The first step along this path was the MINI E; the next phase will see the BMW Active E be available for lease in an expanded group of markets including metropolitan areas of New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento and San Diego as well as the state of Connecticut.
