EPA-rated MPGe fuel economy equivalent is 95 MPGe city, 81 MPGe highway and 88 MPGe combined. The 2016 C-MAX Energi combines a 141 hp 2.0L Atkinson engine and an 88 kW electric motor with an eCVT hybrid power-split transaxle (HF35) and a 35 kW, 7.6 kWh Li-ion battery pack. EV range is 19 miles.

Another difference between ICE cars and EVs is that during constant cruising, an ICE car attains its best fuel economy. The cars were taken on the road concurrently and driven on the same 142-mile round-trip route of Connecticut Route 2 and I-91. Each test day was clear and sunny.
