EEA: Fuel efficiency improvements of new cars in Europe slowed in 2016

Registrations increased in all EU Member States except in the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Slovenia. In comparison with 2015, the average mass of new cars sold in 2016 in the EU increased slightly to reach 1,388 kg. A total of 14.7 million new passenger cars were registered—an increase of almost 7% compared to 2015.

The European Environment Agency publishes the data from the report in the air pollutant emissions data viewer, a web-based interface that simplifies access and analysis of the data.
