Another new feature on the GTD that is shared with the GTI is the so-called “Progressive Steering”, which features a variable steering ratio and a more powerful electric motor. All the driver has to do is put the vehicle into reverse and operate the accelerator and brake, as the car takes care of the steering. “Progressive steering”.

The Explorer excels at towing and off-road work, all while still being a competent commuter car. As a plug-in hybrid, it offered a dozen or so miles of all-electric driving range and a significant boost in power over the trims that don’t include the words “Grand Touring.” We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

I've been documenting electric cars in junkyards for about a decade. The first were converted gasoline vehicles fitted out with lead-acid battery packs ( a Chevy Sprint , a Geo Metro and a Ford Ranger ). I spotted a pair of France-built ZENN Electrics in 2017. Good replacement batteries for these cars aren't cheap.

These "gliders" were originally built to be either ICE or electric. They are NOT conversions, but were designed to be electric from the beginning. Much of the car is identical to the ICE counterpart. The BIG advantage of this car (besides the fact that nobody can take it away from us!)
