Yanmar Power Technology, a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings, is commercializing a 300 kW maritime hydrogen fuel cell system. The company plans to propose the installation of this system into various ships, including passenger ships, work ships, and cargo ships operating in coastal areas where hydrogen refueling is relatively accessible.

The YCK05 engine is the first operating hydrogen engine for China’s commercial vehicle market, the world’s largest commercial vehicle market. The commercially-available diesel-fueled version of the YCK05 has a power range from 190-240 PS and maximum torque of 900 N·m.

The technology group Wärtsilä and WEC Energy Group have successfully tested the capabilities of a Wärtsilä engine running on 25 vol% hydrogen-blended fuel. This is the largest commercially operated grid-connected flexible balancing engine ever to run on a hydrogen fuel blend, representing therefore a world-first achievement.

Africa can produce 50 million tons of green hydrogen a year by 2035, according to a new study by the European Investment Bank (EIB), International Solar Alliance and the African Union, with the support of the Government of Mauritania, HyDeal and UCLG Africa. This is equivalent to energy costs of US$60 a barrel.
