Clean Air Power US Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel product achieves EPA certification

Clean Air Power, a developer of compression-ignited natural gas engine systems for heavy duty vehicles, announced that it has received a Certificate of Conformity from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its US Genesis EDGE Dual-Fuel product.

The certificate confirms that Clean Air Power’s Dual-Fuel engine meets EPA emissions requirements and is valid in 49 of the 50 US states. A separate application has been submitted to the California Air Resources Board.

The Dual-Fuel system enables heavy-duty diesel engines to operate primarily on natural gas, using a small diesel injection to ignite the fuel. The Dual-Fuel control system is directly interfaced with the manufacturer’s engine controller and is able to control precisely natural gas injection, diesel pilot injection, ignition timing and fuel to air ratios to optimize combustion, efficiency and emissions. Clean Air Power is now working to complete the commercial development and finalize logistical preparations ahead of commercial launch.
