Cyclone Power Technologies and Phoenix Power Group reach milestone with waste oil engine system
19 October 2011
Cyclone Power Technologies Inc. and Phoenix Power Group LLC have successfully completed fabrication, assembly and initial testing of the first pre-production Waste Heat Engines (WHE-25) manufactured by TopLine Energy Systems.(Earlier post.) The Phoenix-10 Waste Oil Power Generator (P-10) is scheduled for commercial production in 2012.
The P-10 is an generator system capable of utilizing waste fuels, such as used automotive motor oil, to produce electricity and reduce both energy and heating requirements for garages, car dealerships and similar facilities. Powered by the Cyclone WHE-25 external combustion engine, each P-10 generator system is designed to produce 7.5 kW of electricity.
We’ve made significant progress in a short period of time, and we’re very pleased with the results Cyclone is achieving. Among the critical connections we’ve made in the past few months was matching the Cyclone steam generator with our partner’s EPA-compliant and UL-rated waste oil furnace, which we believe will expedite our path to product commercialization.
—Doug Petty, Phoenix Power’s Vice President
Phoenix Power’s distribution partner, Clean Burn, is a manufacturer and distributor of waste oil heaters in the US, with more than 150,000 products in the market, and more than 30 years of outstanding performance. The parties are currently coupling Clean Burn’s furnaces with a specially designed heat exchanger, which will provide the co-generative thermal energy to run the Cyclone WHE-25 engine. These engines are being fabricated by TopLine Energy Systems, a licensee of global automotive parts manufacturer TopLine Automotive Engineering Inc., pursuant to an agreement announced earlier this year.
Burning various feed stocks for cooking, heating and produce e-energy is outdated. The multiple pollution created is very harmful to humans and animals. The direct and indirect health care cost is so high that very few studies have been able to arrive at a national or world cost.
Volcano and forest fires are bad enough. We do not have to add to it.
Clean burn and clean coal are just empty words for PR campaigns.

But Harvey the consensus tells us volcanoes and forest fires contribute little pollution compared to humans - let's not worry about natural pollution - only man-made pollution.
You are right however, millions of people using wood, dung or coal burning stoves to cook food - will soon have far cleaner ways of cooking that does not need combustion. It is a new age.

They claim low pollution and could be a fit, esp. remote/3rd world power generation.

A nice system.
Is it cost effective most places or 3rd world ?
Maybe so, maybe no.
