AeroVironment also announced plans to install additional charging stations at Outrigger’s OHANA Waikiki East, Embassy Suites Waikiki Beach Walk and Wailea Beach Marriott on Maui. The charging infrastructure initiative helps to comply with a new state law requiring that a portion of all publicly available parking lots of a certain size become EV-ready. The deadline for EV readiness is midnight, 31 December 2011.

AeroVironment offers solutions for the entire spectrum of parking locations, including government/public lots, workplaces, airports, condominiums, commercial developments, shopping malls, auto dealers, restaurants, parks, and other retail locations. Incentives and special programs may include up to 30% in Hawaii EV Ready Rebates, and up to 30% in federal income tax credits to offset the cost of buying and installing commercial charging systems, free site layout consultations, support from AeroVironment-certified EV experts, EV charger education and training for maintenance staff and management.

AeroVironment provides electric vehicle charging stations and installation services for Nissan North America’s Nissan LEAF, BMW’s ActiveE, NRG Energy’s eVgo network, and for the Oregon Department of Transportation and the Washington Department of Transportation as part of the “Green Highway” initiative.

AeroVironment began working in Hawaii more than a decade ago, first deploying fast charging stations for passenger EVs in the early 2000s and then establishing world altitude records with its solar-electric, unmanned aircraft systems at the US Navy Pacific Missile Range Facility at Barking Sands on Kauai.
