BYD has exclusively won cumulative orders to supply 1,002 battery-electric buses to the capital of Colombia, Bogotá. Bogotá City Public Transport Authority (TRANSMILENIO S.A.) At present, BYD has accumulated 1,550 orders for pure electric buses in Colombia, leading the push for bus electrification in Colombia and Latin America.

BYD Ltd and Praco Didacol (BYD’s Colombian distribution partner) announced that BYD e6’s will be placed into Taxi service as of Q1 2013 in the Colombian capital Bogotá as a pilot. The District Government authorized this scalable all-electric taxi pilot in an effort to improve the air quality in Colombia’s dense cities.

The Chilean Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Gloria Hutt, recently announced a new order for 183 BYD electric buses for the Chilean capital of Santiago, due to arrive in August of this year. The first 100 BYD buses were delivered to Santiago in December 2018.

BYD will provide the Colombian capital of Bogotá with a fleet of 379 pure electric buses, in a deal awarded by the capital’s TransMilenio SA mass transport authority. Globally, BYD buses, taxis and other electric vehicles are present in more than 300 cities, 50 countries and regions.

The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet.
