The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. On 29 December 2011, the City of Bogota enacted Decree No. 677 to support the project over a three-year period.

The Colombian city of Cartagena has ordered 147 Scania Euro 6 gas buses for its new transport system as part of Scania’s largest deal to date on Euro 6 gas technology in South America. Scania will be the exclusive provider for two trunk lines for Cartagena’s new Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system, called Transcaribe.
