Van Hool ships first CX45E electric coach to the US; 10 more to follow in 1H 2021; Proterra batteries, Siemens traction system

The CX45E is a fully electric powered coach for the North American market. Proterra was selected by Van Hool to supply the E2 battery technology and Siemens the traction system. The 100% electrically driven vehicle has a range of up to 500 km (310 miles), depending on the climate conditions and the route’s topography.

The Van Hool factory in Macedonia is building 900 buses this year; the factory is designed for an annual capacity of 1,000 buses. In its ‘Aiming for Zero’ objective, VDL Bus&Coach is building a new, climate-neutral factory in Roeselare (Belgium), where the first buses will be built from the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022.
