A researcher at The University of Texas at Austin will receive two grants totaling $15 million to study switchgrass ( Panicum virgatum ), with a focus on how it can become a sustainable source of bioenergy. Additionally, the National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded a four-year grant of $4 million to Juenger and his team. Tom Juenger.

For 2015, EPA announced a new award category for a green chemistry technology that has a “Specific Environmental Benefit: Climate Change.” Algenol, For Specific Environmental Benefit: Climate Change Award. This is already in production, is reducing VOCs and costs, and is safer for people and the environment.
