The European Environment Agency (EEA) has published its provisional data about the CO 2 emissions of newly registered passenger cars and vans in Europe in 2020. The European Parliament approved the new CO 2 emissions reduction targets for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, part of the “Fit for 55” package. Intermediate emissions reduction targets for 2030 are set at 55% for cars and 50% for vans. This regulation encourages the production of zero- and low-emission vehicles.
