Prius Plug-In eligibile for a $1,500 California consumer incentive plus $2,500 Federal tax credit

announced that the 2012 Prius Plug-in has been approved for the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program ( CVRP ). Designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) and related clean vehicle technologies, the CVRP is a consumer incentive made available in addition to a $2,500 Federal Tax credit. These grants are available when a vehicle is either purchased or leased for 36 months or longer. Toyota Motor Sales, Inc.

US DOE Awards $300 Million in Clean Cities Grants to Support Alternative Fuels, Vehicles, and Infrastructure Development

Geographical distribution of Clean Cities Recovery Act awards. The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Like the Recovery Act-funded projects, the annual Clean Cities projects include grants for vehicles, infrastructure, and education. Canada and California to work together on cleaner transportation

Canada is developing a Clean Fuel Standard that will cut emissions by 30 million tonnes in 2030. In the 2019 budget, the Government of Canada announced rebates of up to $5,000 for consumers on the purchase of zero-emission vehicles. Businesses that buy zero-emission vehicles are also now eligible for a tax benefit estimated to be worth around $13,000 in the year they purchase the vehicles.

8 ZEV states announce US ZEV sales top 260,000 units

Californians have purchased or leased more than 100,000 ZEVs. The other seven states—Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Vermont—account for more than 135,000 vehicles. This announcement is further evidence that the market for zero emission vehicles is growing and that increasingly, consumers nationwide are choosing to say no to cars that run on petroleum and yes to a new generation of ultra-clean vehicles.

The Cantwell-Collins plan is almost exactly what Mr. Obama proposed in the campaign and after first taking office–a 100 percent auction of permits and a large tax rebate to the public. Power plants would face an overall cap on emissions that would become more stringent over time; motor fuel may be subject to a carbon tax whose proceeds could help electrify the U.S. If they don’t have enough allowances to cover their emissions they must purchase more or face a penalty.
