The F-150 Lightning extended-range battery system can store 131 kWh and deliver up to 9.6 kW of power in a cleaner, quieter, more efficient way versus gasoline-powered generators, and with greater capacity than many wall battery units. Once power is restored, the system automatically reverts back to utility power.

This marks the first time that all-electric transit buses will be purchased and placed into Metro revenue service. Metro’s Advanced Transit Vehicle Consortium (ATVC), a partnership with LA City, LA County and South Coast Air Quality Management District, will initially purchase five low-floor, 40-foot all-electric buses.

The school district is purchasing 86 Blue Bird Propane Vision school buses, and hopes to convert more of their diesel fleet to propane buses in the future. This new autogas bus offering expands Blue Bird’s propane autogas portfolio, which also includes the 70-gallon standard and 100-gallon extended-range autogas tanks.

For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded.
