Toyota Motor Corporation has agreed to collaborate with Masdar, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Air Liquide, and Toyota distributor Al-Futtaim Motors in a joint research program to explore the potential of hydrogen energy use in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the creation of a sustainable, low-carbon society.

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company’s (ADNOC’s) first shipment of low-carbon ammonia recently left the United Arab Emirates (UAE) bound for Hamburg, Germany. This is the first cargo of low-carbon ammonia to be shipped to Germany.

Energy Ministers from around the world have agreed to proposals to help speed up the global deployment of carbon capture and storage. At a meeting in the United Arab Emirates, Ministers at the Clean Energy Ministerial endorsed recommendations from the Carbon Capture, Use and Storage (CCUS) Action Group chaired by Australia and the UK.

At the Clean Energy Ministerial in Washington, DC, 19-20 July, ministers reaffirmed their commitment to previously-announced targets for the deployment of electric vehicles, which the International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates will create global market momentum leading to at least 20 million electric vehicles on the road worldwide by 2020.
