New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that the state will initiate the process to adopt Advanced Clean Cars II. The NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will begin considering the potential adoption of the Advanced Clean Cars II (ACC II) regulation implemented by the California Air Resources Board.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $100,000 Rural Business Enterprise grant to the not-for-profit Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT), based in East Hartford, Conn. The grant will be used to help determine the feasibility of alternative fuel plants in north-central Connecticut.

The grants will fund projects such as retrofitting older school buses to improve air quality for children riding to school, upgrading marine propulsion and agriculture engines, and replacing long haul truck engines. Louis Clean Cities is replacing six school busses. Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of grant funding to implement projects which reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines. Virgin Islands) will accept applications requesting up to $2,500,000 in grant funds. Applicants may apply until 16 March 2021.

Geographical distribution of Clean Cities Recovery Act awards. The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected 25 cost-share projects under the Clean Cities program that will be funded with nearly $300 million from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The waiver was granted by EPA in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE). EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson determined that, as a result of effects of Hurricane Sandy, extreme and unusual supply circumstances exist, which may result in a temporary shortage of gasoline compliant with federal regulations.

The US Environmental Agency (EPA) has granted California’s waiver request enabling the state to enforce its greenhouse gas emissions standards (Pavley I) for new motor vehicles, beginning with the current model year. California requested from EPA the waiver required for implementation of the Pavley regulations in December 2005.
