The battery pack alone weighs over 2,900 pounds—about the weight of a Honda Civic. The US transportation sector accounts for the largest portion of US greenhouse gas emissions, and I firmly believe it is a human right to breathe clean air. Electric vehicles powered from a clean grid are an essential step in the right direction.

Taking a dig at the push for hybrid vehicles, Tata Motors’ Group CFO, PB Balaji, cast doubt on the technology’s environmental benefits, suggesting it’s primarily driven by tax breaks rather than a commitment to clean mobility. Apart from Maruti Suzuki, automakers including Toyota and Honda also offer hybrid vehicles.

The contrarian view is that in a lifecycle of over 50,000 kilometres usage – EVs are still cleaner with thermal powered energy.
