Amara Raja Energy & Mobility wins JIPM’s TPM excellence award | Autocar Professional

Two units of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M), formerly known as Amara Raja Batteries, have bagged the prestigious Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) TPM Excellence award. The awards were presented to C Narasimhulu Naidu, Chief Operations Officer, ARE&M and other company officials at the International Conference Centre in Kyoto, Japan.

While the company’s automotive battery plant won the JIPM award for excellence in consistent TPM commitment, the industry battery manufacturing unit bagged the TPM Excellence Award. The awards are a recognition of Amara Raja’s consistent vision, commitment, and effort in the pioneering manufacturing excellence and quality.

Amara Raja Energy & Mobility encompasses a diverse range of solutions and products, which includes energy storage solutions, Lithium-ion cell manufacturing, wide range of EV chargers, Li-ion battery pack assembly, automotive and industrial lubricants, and exploration of new chemistries, among others.

JIPM confers the awards to applicants from all over the world who are doing remarkably well in implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to increase plant efficiency. The award is presented to the companies who execute best quality, productivity with lowest cost possible under the safest environment by using the eight-pillar approach of JIPM. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is focused on eliminating all types of losses in production, and is a machine and people-oriented system. This year, companies from 16 countries participated in the competition.

“Through implementing various improvement initiatives and support from all the employees, various units of Amara Raja were able to achieve highest level of productivity even while maintaining safety protocols. This award is recognition of our vision and commitment to world-class quality and safety,” stated C Narasimhulu Naidu, COO, ARE&M.

The team has worked diligently to implement and standardise the overall framework of TPM which has in turn resulted in minimising losses while maintaining high levels of productivity. This recognition will inspire us, and we aspire to bag the special award for all our battery plants by FY2027.”
