It’s been spring break here in Florida, and the past week has included some interesting stories that stand out a bit from the norm. There are also a couple of big themes to highlight. Check out the top 10 list below and one bonus story at the end.

1. Chinese electric cars are quietly taking over the auto market globally, and that’s starting to get interesting. According to one analysis from Transport & Environment (T&E), a full 25% of electric cars sold in Europe in 2024 are expected to have been produced in China! In 2023, the figure was 19.5%.

On that note, our own Max Holland had a couple of stories asking whether the Dacia Spring’s competitors in China will come to Europe.

2. Far underneath the big electric car radar, electric motorcycles are a critical part of the EV revolution. On that topic, WRI had a story on how solar-powered battery swap stations could increase the shift to electric motorcycles in Rwanda, and our own Remeredzai Kuhudzai noted that there are more and more electric motorcycles in Nairobi, Kenya.

3. On the other end of the spectrum are electric trucks, and particularly electric truck towing. For those looking for more info on this, Jennifer Sensiba goes into depth on recent towing tests of four electric trucks.

4. Speaking of electric trucks, it turns out that Rivian now tops the charts for auto brand loyalty! Tesla, which was once at the top of the charts, is now down to 5th — with two big German brands whose sales have certainly been hurt by Tesla now above it (BMW and Porsche), but little MINI above all of them and only trailing Rivian.

5. Want to win a Rivian? Go support solar power and you can get the chance to win a Rivian. That’s it. But as a short note: CleanTechnica readers have won this raffle in the past (when it was a Tesla being offered), and the winner the first year was actually a CleanTechnica reader. So, you’ve got a chance!

6. EV tipping points are being passed and most people don’t even know it. Check out Steve Hanley’s article on this, as well as the 178 comments from readers discussing this huge matter.

7. Bringing down battery recycling costs. The Biden–Harris administration is focused on advancing the EV revolution in a host of ways, and that includes investing $62 million into efforts to bring down battery recycling costs.

8. Tesla FSD V12 is getting rave reviews. Even from many people who have been unimpressed by FSD up till now, we are hearing that FSD version 12 is doing superbly. Unfortunately, I’ve only had really bad experiences with it, but I’ll return to that another day.

9. Pro-EV memes to fight anti-EV memes. Anti–EV memes have gotten quite popular these days, and our own Scott Cooney had an idea — fight memes with memes (i.e., respond with pro-EV memes to anti-EV memes). Scott is calling for all arms in helping with this.

10. Getting back to China (to take this full circle), we just published our regular China EV sales report for February. It’s always a fascinating read.

Bonus: One of our readers initiated and is growing the Denver Basic Income Project. We got an update on this awesome effort, and you have to check it out!

That’s all for now. Let us know if we missed any other big cleantech stories you think we should have covered here.
