Rivian has launched a unique new trade-in discount on its vehicles in celebration of Earth Day, offering $5,000 off for those who trade select gas vehicles in for a new R1T or R1S.
On Monday, Rivian sent an email to prospective customers about the “Electric Upgrade” offer, a $5,000 gas trade-in discount that will also get buyers one year of free charging on the Rivian Adventure Network (RAN).
“Today is Earth Day—a time to celebrate the planet we call home and think about ways to preserve it for generations to come,” Rivian wrote in the email. “We want to help you get into a more environmentally friendly, zero-emissions Rivian vehicle.”
“Starting today, take advantage of our limited-time Electric Upgrade Offer and you could get a discount of up to $5,000 on a qualifying new R1 when you trade-in select gas-powered vehicles. Plus, you’ll also get one year of charging on the Rivian Adventure Network (powered by 100% renewable energy) at no additional cost.”

The offer is currently open to residents in the U.S. or Canada who purchase or lease a new Rivian R1 between April 22 and June 30. In addition, the offer is only available for the following R1 configurations:
- R1T Standard, Standard+ Pack – $3,000 / $4,500 CAD
- R1T Large Pack – $4,000 / $6,000 CAD
- R1T Max Pack – $5,000 / $7,500 CAD
- R1S Large Pack – $1,000 / $1,500 CAD
Earlier this month, Rivian celebrated reaching a milestone of 100,000 vehicles produced at its factory in Normal, Illinois, after the electric vehicle (EV) maker unveiled its upcoming R2 and R3 vehicles last month.
