Japan-based Terra Motors, a manufacturer of electric two and three-wheelers ( earlier post ), has started sales of the A4000i electric scooter—with new products to follow—in Tehran, Iran with Jahanro Industrial Co, exclusively for next five years. In Iran, the government has decided to reduce gasoline subsidies.

Other LG entities—including LG Electronics, LG Chem and LG Innotek—will lead efforts to develop electric motors, batteries and key auto parts, the company said, according to a report from Iran’s Mehr News Agency. They also agreed to produce about 60,000 EVs by 2023. Other details on the terms of the agreement were not known.

Polestar points to a maximum charge rate of 250 kw, good for a 10% to 80% charge in 30 minutes, and estimated EPA range ratings (not yet official) at 279 or 315 miles. It’s already said that a heat pump will be included, as will bidirectional charging. Polestar has said that U.S. market but for export to some markets.

E&P companies could resort to loans in order to pay off maturing debt, not unlike charging one credit card to wipe clean the debt on another. Also, although there was a lot of speculation about Iran’s ability to return some capacity to the market, such an outcome appears more and more likely. That will keep the pressure on US shale.
