Suzuki Motor, Daihatsu Motor, and Toyota Motor will unveil prototype mini-commercial van electric vehicles (BEVs) equipped with a jointly developed BEV system. The unveiling will take place at an exhibition event that introduces the automobile industry’s efforts to achieve carbon neutrality (CN), from 18-21 May.

In the 800-volt variant of the electric motor, Bosch has increased the power density. With a 400-volt onboard network, the maximum charge power at charge spots that are powerful enough is 250 kW. The Bosch motor achieves a maximum efficiency of up to 98%. The next generation of the electric motor will feature oil cooling.

Tesco is launching the UK’s first commercially used fully electric heavy-duty freight articulated (tractor-trailer as opposed to rigid) trucks. To power the new service, FSEW has installed charging points at its site in South Wales that provide enough energy to power these large vehicles for 100 miles before needing to charge again.

Schaeffler has begun production of its electric wheel hub motors; three manufacturers of compact municipal vehicles are gearing up to incorporate the motors into their production lines in the coming months. The wheel hub motor, including the gearbox, is very compact, fitting inside a 14-inch rim.

Hyundai Motor Company shipped the first 10 units of the Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell, the first mass-produced fuel cell heavy-duty truck, to Switzerland. The company plans to ship a total of 50 XCIENT Fuel Cells to Switzerland this year, with handover to commercial fleet customers starting in September. Earlier post.)

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) unveiled the e-BULLI. The 32 kW (44 PS) four-cylinder boxer engine gave way in the e-BULLI to a silent Volkswagen electric motor delivering 61 kW (83 PS). A 45 kWh lithium-ion battery is responsible for supplying the electric motor with power. to 22 kW, depending on electricity source.
