Buoyed by the US government’s CARS (“Cash for Clunkers”) program, US auto sales slowed their decline in the US in July, dropping on 12.1% to 554, 527 units, while light truck sales dropped 14.1% All comparisons are by volume. Light truck sales were down 10.1% to 76,724; total light truck sales were down 20.6%

Other highlights of the latest Trends report include: Light truck market share decreased in MY 2012, but continues to be variable. Light trucks (pickups, minivans/vans, and truck SUVs), accounted for 36% of all light-duty vehicle production in MY 2012, the second lowest level since 1993. mpg, or 22%. square feet in MY 2012.
