XL Hybrids and Knapheide Manufacturing complete more than 100 installations of XL3 powertrain on fleet vehicles

XL Hybrids, Inc., developer of hybrid electric powertrains for commercial vans and trucks, and Knapheide Manufacturing Company, one of the leading commercial vehicle equipment providers in North America, announced that Knapheide has completed more than 100 installations of XL Hybrids’ XL3 powertrain on fleet vehicles: Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana cargo vans. (Earlier post.)

XL Hybrids’ technology, which reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 20% on urban and suburban routes, has been successfully deployed in the field with some of the largest fleets in North America including Coca-Cola and FedEx.

Designed for seamless integration in four to six hours with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) powertrain, XL Hybrids’ technology is delivered by Knapheide via the OEM ship-through process, providing a one-stop purchase, upfit, delivery, and invoice experience for commercial fleets. In addition to new MY2014 vehicle upfits, Knapheide installation facilities have also completed hybrid electric retrofits of MY2012 and MY2013 vans.

A hybrid 2014 Chevrolet Express cargo van upfitted with XL Hybrids’ technology by Knapheide will be displayed in the XL Hybrids booth at the 2014 NTEA Work Truck Show, 5-7 March at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.
