Reported sales of hybrids in the US reported by Toyota, Honda, Ford, GM and Nissan dropped 45.5% year-on-year in April to 21,735, despite full month sales for the new Honda Insight and the Ford Fusion and Milan hybrids. Other results: Sales of the Camry Hybrid were down 67.1% of Camry sales.

Some highlights: The all-new redesigned Prius mid-size gas-electric hybrid posted best-ever July sales of 19,173 units, up 29.7% Camry and Camry Hybrid remained Toyota’s volume leader in July, posting combined monthly sales of 33,974 units, down 19.4% Camry hybrid posted 2,509 units, down 5.1%.

General Motors: GM sold a total of 1,708 hybrids during the month – an increase of 4.8 Honda: The company sold a total of 4,943 hybrids during the month with 4,226 of these units being the new Honda Insight. The Civic Hybrid meanwhile sold 717 units, down 77 per cent compared to August 2008.

General Motors: During October, GM reported a total of 1,159 hybrids sold – that’s a 22.5 Honda: Thanks to the introduction of the new Honda Insight Hybrid, which sold 1,739 units during the month, Honda reported a 21.9 per cent increase in hybrid sales during October with a total of 1,978 vehicles sold.

Honda: Total vehicle sales in May reached 98,334 - that’s down 41.5 The Accord was the volume leader with 22,597 units sold while combined sales of the Civic and Civic Hybrid dropped 61 per cent. The new Honda Insight did help to boost sales however - 2,780 models were sold meaning hybrid sales of Honda cars increased by 3.5
