UK-based Electric Car Corporation Plc ( ECC ) has officially launched an all-electric version of the Citroën C1, the C1 ev’ie. The C1 ev’ie. The Citroën C1 ev’ie is assembled in the UK from the donor car. Its Li-ion battery pack can be fully charged in 6-7 hours from a domestic 13 amp socket.

Axeon to Develop New Li-ion Pack for C1 ev’ie

Axeon , Europe’s largest independent lithium-ion battery systems supplier, will develop a new high-capacity battery system for the electric Citroën C1 ev’ie, manufactured by the UK-based Electric Car Corporation ( earlier post ), with a view to supplying between 300 and 500 units in the 12 months following a successful trial.

Axeon awarded EU funding to reduce size, weight and cost of EV & hybrid vehicle batteries

European Li-ion automotive battery supplier Axeon has been awarded research funding from the EU to reduce the weight, volume and cost of batteries in electric and hybrid vehicles as part of a €3.32-million million (US$4.72-million) million) consortium program called SmartBatt. Reduction in battery pack cost by 5%-10%.
