The new zero emission vehicle from Citroen - the C1 ev’ie - will feature in Green Motion’s fleet the company has announced. The world’s first and only low carbon dioxide (CO2) car and van hire company announced its intention to include the vehicle in its line-up after it was launched at the Lancaster Hotel in Hyde Park.

The Electric Car Corporation Plc (ECC) today announced the launch of the UK’s first 4 seater, ‘all electric’ production car. The C1 ev’ie can be fully charged in 6-7 hours from a domestic 13 amp socket at a cost of around 90p, making it an ideal city car for either professional or domestic use.

Axeon , Europe’s largest independent lithium-ion battery systems supplier, will develop a new high-capacity battery system for the electric Citroën C1 ev’ie, manufactured by the UK-based Electric Car Corporation ( earlier post ), with a view to supplying between 300 and 500 units in the 12 months following a successful trial.

The world’s largest car sharing club is ready to make an impact in the UK as ZipCar and the Westminster City Council launched a new car sharing club fleet. The fleet will initially include 20 hybrid vehicles and offer members access to the country’s first all-electric car club vehicle the Citroen C1.

The program is part of the seventh framework agreement to develop the ‘Smart and Safe Integration of Batteries in Electric Vehicles’ and aims to improve battery integration into vehicle structures by significantly reducing battery weight, volume and cost without changing the actual cells. Reduction in battery pack cost by 5%-10%.
