Aussie pricing announced for Renault Megane E-Tech electric vehicle

The Renault Megane E-Tech compact hatchback will go on-sale in Australia late in 2023 priced from $64,990 plus on-road costs.

Renault’s first ground-up electric vehicle based on its new CMF-EV platform has undercut earlier forecasts for its pricing from Renault Australia.

The Megane E-Tech’s pricing means it sits in Tesla Model 3 territory but is cheaper than a bunch of other European EVs such as the Volvo XC40 and its newly updated close relation, the Polestar 2.

The 4200mm-long Megane E-Tech will come to Australia in one highly-specified model badged EV60.

At its core is a 160kW/300Nm single motor front-wheel drive powertrain fed by a 60kWh battery pack that provides up to 454km of claimed driving range (WLTP) and a 7.4 seconds 0-100km/h time.

The battery can be DC fast-charged at up to 130kW, which equates to a 15-80 per cent recharge in 30 minutes.

Standard Megane E-Tech EV60 equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, fully adaptive LED headlights and dynamic indicators, recycled cloth and leatherette interior trim, manually adjustable seats with electric lumbar adjust, 48-colour ambient lighting, a 9.0-inch infotainment interface, 12-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging and a six-speaker Arkamys audio system.

It also comes with Renault’s hands-free keycard with keyless entry and ‘walk-away’ locking, four driving modes, a smart rear-view mirror, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera and parking sensors all round.

The Megane E-Tech will be protected by a five-year/100,000km warranty (Renault usually offers five years/unlimited km for its passenger cars in Australia) and an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty.

The next electric models due to arrive from Renault in Australia by the end of 2024 are the Kangoo E-Tech and Master E-Tech commercial vans.
