Honda to unveil new small vehicle prototype at Thailand International Motor Expo

plans to exhibit the world premiere of a prototype representing the direction of the new small-sized vehicle which is scheduled to be introduced to Thailand and India in 2011, at the 27 th Thailand International Motor Expo 2010 starting 30 November 2010. Building upon the Honda New Small Concept, which was showcased in India (January) and Thailand (March) in 2010 ( earlier post ), this prototype represents vehicle packaging that is closer to the mass-production model.

Toyota launches Biodiversity & Sustainability Learning Center to complement Biotope project in Thailand

Toyota has launched the Toyota Biodiversity and Sustainability Learning Center “Cheewa Panavet” at the Toyota Ban Pho Plant in Thailand. Toyota is cooperating with the Foundation for Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (Thailand) and Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education, to provide environmental education. BMW has been producing internally-developed test cells in small formats for some years already with the aim of identifying the ideal cell structure from the myriad materials and variants. Today, the BMW Group already builds electrified vehicles at eleven plants around the world, and integrates them into the existing production system. The BMW Group has also located production of batteries in Thailand as part of a link-up with the Dräxlmaier Group.

Ford opening 66 more new dealerships in China by end of year; Asia-Pacific growth plans

Ford’s Asia Pacific and Africa region encompasses markets on three continents, including Australia, China, India, Thailand and South Africa. In addition to building a new assembly plant and engine plant with CFMA, Ford is building a new plant in Nanchang with Jiangling Motors Corp (JMC).

Five Canadian and developing country teams awarded total of C$12.5M to study climate change adaptation

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) together with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced that five research teams have been awarded a total of C$12.5 million) under the International Research Initiative on Adaptation to Climate Change (IRIACC).

Global geothermal industry passes 12,000 MW operational

The international geothermal power industry is poised to place between 500 and 1,000 MW on line per year for the rest of the decade, said GEA. Vincent and the Grenadines, Taiwan, Thailand, Uganda, the United States, and Yemen. The global geothermal industry surpassed 12,000 MW of geothermal power operational, with about 600 MW of new geothermal power coming online globally, according to a year-end update by the Geothermal Energy Association (GEA).

Describing its product goals and tracking progress toward its 2020 manufacturing priorities in its 2012 Sustainability Report , General Motors reaffirmed its commitment to further reduce the energy used and the environmental impacts of building and operating an automobile. GM also reduced the amount of energy required to build one vehicle by 7 percent and avoided $66 million in energy costs through conservation initiatives since 2010.
