Buick LaCrosse eAssist to go on sale in China priced at $40,833

The Buick LaCrosse eAssist “Comfort” model will be priced at RMB 249,900 (US$40,833) when it arrives in select dealerships in China October. The car is equipped with advanced eAssist mild electrification technology.

The LaCrosse eAssist is powered by a powertrain that combines a 2.4L SIDI engine, a customized 6-speed transmission, a 15 kW electric motor and lithium-ion batteries. When driven at a constant speed of 90 km/h (56 mph), such as during highway travel, the combination delivers fuel economy of 5.2 L/100 km (45 mpgUS). Overall combined fuel economy for the eAssist model is improved by 20% to 7.2 L/100 km (32.6 mpgUS), compared to the conventional powertrain model.

The LaCrosse eAssist will be backed by Chinese central and local government subsidies and the ability to quality for license plates for hybrid cars.

Since the launch of its 2.0T and 2.4L variants in July, the new Buick LaCrosse has recorded sales of more than 10,000 vehicles. Models priced above RMB 250,000 accounted for more than 85% of the total sales in the medium- and high-end segment. The LaCrosse offers eight trim levels with four powertrain options: a 3.0L V6 SIDI, 2.0L Turbo SIDI, 2.4L SIDI, and the eAssist hybrid model.

Pre-orders for the new model are now being accepted by Buick dealerships in 25 new energy vehicle pilot cities across the country:
