BMW Prices 2011 ActiveHybrid 7 from $103,125

BMW announced pricing for the 2011 ActiveHybrid 7 models (earlier post) during their North American debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show. BMW’s first hybrid performance/luxury sedans will arrive in showrooms in Spring 2011 with a base MSRP of $103,125 including destination and handling for the ActiveHybrid 7 and $107,025 for the long wheelbase ActiveHybrid 7L.
The ActiveHybrid 7 is a mild-hybrid application, and offers approximately a 15% reduction in fuel consumption. The combination of an upgraded 4.4-liter twin-turbo, High Precision Direct Injection, V8 engine with a 3-phase synchronous 15 kW electric motor gives the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 a combined output of 455 hp (339 kW) and maximum torque of 516 lb-ft (700 N·m) (preliminary figures).
Power is transmitted via an 8-speed automatic transmission with the electric motor positioned between the engine and the torque converter. The electric motor receives its supply of energy from a compact, 400 Wh lithium-ion battery.

TG could buy almost 5 Prius III for the same price tag.

It is quite clear that it would be cheaper to buy a less efficient car. The price would buy 50 TATA Nanos. ..HG..
