The Senior Vice President of Sales & Business Development plays a pivotal role in ensuring a company’s success. Whether it is a startup or an established business, they develop and execute sales strategies, set sales goals, and foster new customer acquisitions.

This EVCer spotlight features Paul Terry, Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development. Prior to joining EV Connect, Paul was part of an executive team in a software company which he joined when it was around EV Connect’s size and eventually grew to $700M in revenue. Prior to that he practiced environmental law, which involved risk allocation, carbon emission trading, and wetlands mitigation efforts.

In this latest blog, we talked about Paul’s path to EV Connect, his role as SVP of Sales and Business Development, green technology, environmental law and more!

Can you describe what your role is at EV Connect?

As Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development, I am responsible for EV Connect’s sales performance and aligning sales strategies to business goals. I've done a lot of different things throughout my career - go to market efforts, building and leading teams, even environmental law. I'm somewhat of an all-around athlete. I thought I could contribute to EV Connect on several fronts.

How did you hear about EV Connect? Why did you want to work here?

I had been thinking about how the green technology space has taken off and how I would like to be able to merge my software experience on the learning and training side with my experience from my environmental law days. A good friend of mine told me about EV Connect, and the more I heard, the more I thought, "Wow, this has the potential to be really interesting to me personally." It's fitting the sweet spot of what I was looking to do next.

What is your favorite thing about working at EV Connect? What’s the best thing you’ve learned about working at EV Connect?

It’s personal. I'm very energized about the opportunity that exists with EV Connect at a macro level, but also day to day the opportunity to work with some good and talented people as well. It's a great feeling when you can wake up at the beginning of the day feeling excited both about the opportunities in front of you as well as the people with whom you get to do it.

What is EV Connect doing to further product and technology in the growing EV market?

The industry is seeing tremendous growth in electric vehicle adoption. For different businesses and audiences, this could be a huge opportunity. For some, however, it can be a little intimidating. How and where to start such an undertaking can really benefit from the guidance of someone who has done it before to show them the way. EV Connect provides that, both in terms of a strong, flexible software offering as well as a team of talented people. So being able to work with folks and help provide them a path and a solution for their success, which then begets our success, and which then begets the greater contribution to the overall EV community and its development, That's a good thing.
