This collaboration is in line with the implementation of the DAFI Directive (Directive 2014/94 - Deployment of Alternative Fuels Infrastructures), with a particular focus on certain countries and regions, starting from Wallonia, Belgium. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), IVECO (a brand of CNH Industrial) and ENGIE (Global Energy Player) are broadly collaborating to promote natural gas vehicles and infrastructure in Europe.

Westport and Volvo Car to introduce V90 Bi-Fuel into Belgium and Luxembourg

Westport AB, a Westport Fuel Systems company, announced that Volvo Car will introduce the Bi-Fuel version of its new V90 station wagon in Belgium and Luxembourg. Belgium currently has 5,400 natural gas vehicles on the road and a developed infrastructure network that includes 73 CNG stations. —Didier Hendrickx of Natural Gas Vehicle Association (NGVA) Belgium. Volvo Buses receives order for 90 electric hybrid buses and fast charging stations from Belgium

European Fast-E project launches; 278 fast-charging points in Germany and Belgium

The Fast-E project, co-financed by the European Union and nine companies, has officially launched , with the objective of installing 241 fast-charging charging stations in Germany and 37 in Belgium. The 278 charging points set up every 80 km along Germany and Belgium’s main motorways, will allow drivers of electric vehicles to “refuel” and extend their car’s range.

Volvo Car Corporation begins production of the Volvo C30 Electric for leasing customers in Europe

The Volvo C30 Electric will be manufactured and delivered to leasing customers throughout Europe, including in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and Norway. The Volvo C30 Electric is built on the regular assembly line in the Ghent factory and then transported to Göteborg for installation of the motor, batteries and other model-specific electronics. The batteries are installed where the fuel tank normally sits and also in a special compartment in the car’s central tunnel.

Last week we told you that the company was heading to Belgium and Luxembourg (see article ), and now it will play a pivotal role in the introduction of an electric vehicle recharging infrastructure in Denmark. It will be responsible for the installation of the first Elektrobay roadside charging stations, which are scheduled to be completed ahead of this month’s COP15 global climate change conference in Copenhagen, which takes place from December 7-15.

ABB to charge the largest single network of 101 electric buses in Europe using open industry standard OppCharge

The order will include installation sites in Charleroi, Belgium, providing 15 ABB charging stations in total by 2018, to power 101 Volvo electric hybrid buses in the Wallonia public transport system, operated by TEC Group. The scope of ABB’s second contract is a complete turnkey project to charge the additional 90 Volvo Electric Hybrid buses and includes twelve 150 kW charging stations, substations, switchgear, civil works, installation and a service contract.

London taxis to be fueled by UK’s first network of hydrogen stations

Funded by the Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, the HyTEC project (Hydrogen Transport for European Cities), which is part funded by the Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), will also see the installation of an Air Products hydrogen fueling station in London. In an effort to understand the best methods for rolling out hydrogen transport in European cities, this international initiative will also install a network of fueling stations in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Ford focuses on wind power

The company has put two giant wind turbines, each standing more than 150 metres tall, into service at its Ford Genk plant in Belgium. The turbines were installed by Electrabel, a local energy company, with each having an output of 2MW of power. The turbines in Belgium are expected to meet a significant part of the plant’s power needs, where it produces the Mondeo, Galaxy and S-MAX models.

Ford of Europe has put two giant wind turbines, each with a height of 150 meters, into service at the Ford Genk plant in Belgium. Installed by local energy company, Electrabel, each unit has an output of 2MW of power.
