As one of the most aggressive Chinese automakers expanding into overseas markets, Great Wall Motor, like BYD, also participated in the ongoing Paris Motor Show.

Great Wall Motor is showcasing plug-in hybrid models including the Coffee 01 and Coffee 02 from its premium brand Wey, as well as models from its electric brand Ora including the Funky Cat, Funky Cat GT and Lightning Cat for local visitors at the event, according to a press release.

The biennial Paris Motor Show is one of the world's most important auto shows, but the event was last held four years ago due to the Covid epidemic. This year's event will be held from October 17 to 23.

In addition to the various models on display, Great Wall Motor announced the official European launch of the Coffee 01, offering a Premium version priced at 55,900 euros ($55,060) and a Luxury version priced at 59,900 euros.

The Wey Coffee 01 will be available in Germany starting in November and will be available in more European countries including Sweden, Spain and Austria.

In January, the Coffee 01 completed WVTA type approval, which meets the Euro 6d emission standard. The model received five-star safety ratings in the E-NCAP safety crash test with scores of 91 percent, 87 percent, 79 percent and 94 percent for Adult Occupant, Child Occupant, Vulnerable Road Users and Safety Assist, respectively.

The Wey Coffee 02 will be launched in Europe in 2023 and will first be available in Belgium and France, and will later be expanded to the entire European market.

Europe is the first stop for Wey in overseas markets and is a milestone for the brand, Great Wall Motor said.

Great Wall Motor sold 802,313 vehicles in January-September, down 9.25 percent from the same period last year, according to figures released by the company earlier this month.

The Wey brand sold 30,464 vehicles in January-September, down 15.75 percent from a year earlier. The Ora brand sold 84,721 vehicles in January-September, essentially unchanged from 84,731 in the same period last year.
