The high surface area and large pore volume of aCNS in the positive electrode facilitated NaCl or LiCl deposition and trapping of Cl 2 for reversible NaCl/Cl 2 or LiCl/Cl 2 redox reactions and battery discharge/charge cycling. This work could open up widely available, low-cost graphitic materials for high-capacity alkali metal/Cl 2 batteries.

FREYR Battery in license & services agreement with Aleees for LFP cathode active material

FREYR Battery has entered into an agreement with Aleees , the Taiwan-based lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) cathode battery material manufacturer. FREYR anticipates that the agreement will enable FREYR to meet the future LFP cathode material needs of the Giga Arctic battery production facility in Mo i Rana, Norway.

Stanford team develops ultra-fast aluminum-ion battery with stability over thousands of cycles

A team at Stanford University, led by professor Hongjie Dai, has developed a high-performance, safe, fast-charging aluminum-ion battery that can last for thousands of cycles. The Al-ion battery—comprising an aluminum anode, graphite cathode and ionic liquid electrolyte—produces about half the voltage of a Li-ion battery.
