To date, North America is the strongest market for light duty (LD) plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), with more than 133,000 sold in 2014. Navigant expects metro areas in California to show the largest PEV population growth, as the Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, and San Diego areas are all within the top 10 metro markets for PEV sales.

The San Jose area had the highest share at 10%, followed by other California areas (4% to 6%) and markets in Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington (2% to 4%). Overall, the share of new vehicles that are plug-in electric in these 50 areas is 1.2%, about 3 times the proportion in the rest of the United States.

Eaton’s quick charger can recharge the iMiEV to 80% of battery capacity in 25 minutes. Among those exhibiting were: Aerovironment. The company offers a broad range of Level 1, 2 and 3 charging solutions.
