About CalCars Plug-In Hybrids FAQ How to Get a PHEV Where PHEVs are Car-Makers Say. Add batteries and grid-charging, and you get PRIUS+, a "plug-in" hybrid (PHEV). Two EDrive/EnergyCS prototypes: (100+ mpg plus electricity, 30-mile range, with lithium-ion batteries. Were making PRIUS+ happen.

The nonprofit CalCars does conversions to demonstrate new designs and provide a platform for different batteries; we dont sell conversions. They are early adopters, buying "Version 1.0"

April 10, 2009 10:09 am Link It amazes me that in the vast debate about electric cars world wide including here in Norway, no one ever mention the fact that the batteries in such cars need replacement in no more than five years. So imagine a million electric cars on US roads which all need to change these batteries in say 2015.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles.
