Exide Industries Ltd, India’s largest manufacturer of lead acid storage batteries and power storage solutions provider, and Switzerland-based Li-ion battery manufacturer Leclanché SA announced a joint venture to build lithium-ion batteries and provide energy storage systems for India’s electric vehicle market and grid-based applications.

Have been promised a new battery vehicle in a few weeks - and would love to do a ride on that to validate the range. Coming back to Africa, ruggedness has to be built into the design.

What’s more, the device should be inexpensive to manufacture and could be made in his native country of Sri Lanka, where access to health care can be difficult.

But some advanced new bicycles can store energy when they brake, meaning they can go many times further, and some advanced new batteries can charge up in a fraction of the time. The reason is that western governments are not much interested bicycles.
