Maserati has unveiled the new GranCabrio Folgore – an all-electric convertible featuring a tri-motor electric powertrain with 818 horsepower.
The GranCabrio Folgore, which is expected to be a 2025 model, is closely related to the GranTurismo Folgore coupe.
Its three electric motors are powered by a 92.5 kWh battery pack, featuring a front-mounted electric motor and two at the rear. This configuration gives the GranCabrio Folgore all-wheel drive, rear torque vectoring, and a combined peak output of 818 hp (610 kW) and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque. With this formidable power, the GranCabrio can sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). It is expected to offer a WLTP range of 260 to 278 miles (419 to 447 km).
For recharging, owners will appreciate the 270 kW DC fast charging, capable of adding up to 62 miles (100 km) of range in a mere five minutes. A 20-80% charge can be achieved in just 18 minutes for those with a bit more time.
Similar to its coupe counterpart, the GranCabrio Folgore adopts the brand’s 800-volt architecture and a uniquely shaped battery pack, departing from the typical flat-panel design of EVs. Instead, it features a T-shaped pack designed to fit within the transmission and driveline tunnel, ensuring a lower seating height compared to EVs with traditional layouts.
Inside the electric GranCabrio, occupants are treated to a luxurious atmosphere with eco-friendly materials and cutting-edge tech features. The soft top can be swiftly folded at speeds of up to 31 mph (50 km/h), conserving trunk space by compactly stowing away. While the front seats offer ample space, the rear seats, though capable of accommodating adults, might not provide the utmost comfort.
Standard upholstery includes a silky-textured material made from Econyl, a recycled nylon synthetic fiber, featuring laser-etched perforations for a visually striking design. For those twilight drives with the top down, Maserati has installed neck warmers in the front seats to ward off any chill.
A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen and separate touch-controlled climate functions are standard, as is a 12.2-inch digital gauge cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (both wireless), a head-up display, and a 16-speaker Sonus Faber sound system; a 19-speaker Sonus Faber stereo is optional.
