Hyundai Introduces New Tucson/ ix35 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle

Hyundai unveiled its Tucson/ ix35 Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, saying that the introduction was moving it another step closer to the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. The Tucson / ix35 FCEV incorporates several important innovations over the previous generation Tucson FCEV that will enable it to meet its goal of ramping up production volume of FCEVs into the thousands by 2012. 160 km/h (99 mph).

Hyundai and US DOE extend fuel cell vehicle loan partnership in concert with new DC-based hydrogen fueling station

The program involves Hyundai providing a number of Tucson Fuel Cell CUVs ( earlier post ) for daily use and confirmation by the DOE using existing hydrogen infrastructure. In February, Hyundai reported that Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell drivers had accumulated more than 1,000,000 miles on the roads and highways of Southern California. Hyundai has delivered nearly 100 Tucson Fuel Cell crossovers since its introduction as the first mass-produced fuel cell in the US market in June 2014.

And EVJerr's blogging from Tucson with a couple sites to hit -- the popular bookstore, Bookman's is installing two e-vehicle chargers at two sites and one in Phoenix (See Arizona Daily Star, Thursday, 3 Dec "Ground broken for e-vehicle chargers" article by Dan Sorenson). When fully charged, the vehicle is targeted to achieve a maximum electric-only range of approximately 13 miles and will be capable of achieving highway speeds up to 60 mph in electric-only mode.
