Chinas technologies for electric vehicles, especially batteries, are still lagging behind in some important ways.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. that car was missing precisely what the Volt (and any other would-be electric car under consideration today) is missing -- an appropriate battery technology that provides decent power within a decent weight and space constraint at anything approaching a decent price.
