Van Hool, an independent Belgian manufacturer of buses, coaches and industrial vehicles, has shipped the first CX45E, a 100% battery electric coach, to the US. Proterra was selected by Van Hool to supply the E2 battery technology and Siemens the traction system.

The Van Hool factory in Macedonia is building 900 buses this year; the factory is designed for an annual capacity of 1,000 buses. The industrial buildings will be designed in such a way that only electrically powered buses can be built in a climate-neutral and efficient manner. American and European Standards organizations agree to strengthen transatlantic cooperation on standards for electric vehicles

The event brought together technical experts from industry, government, and other stakeholders to compare and discuss standardization priorities for electric vehicles (EVs) outlined in the October 2011 Report of the CEN-CENELEC Focus Group on European Electro-Mobility and the April 2012 Standardization Roadmap for Electric Vehicles – Version 1.0, Safety of electric vehicle infrastructure and batteries. This body works to develop global technical regulations for the industry.
