Barely four months after China’s BYD produced its six-millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) at the Zhengzhou factory on November 26, the company has rolled out its seven-millionth unit on March 25. The milestone vehicle is a Denza N7 and makes BYD the world’s first automaker to manufacture seven million NEVs.

BYD produced its millionth NEV in May 2021, rapidly multiplying this figure threefold within 18 months. It surpassed the five-million milestone in merely nine additional months, and then in just seven months, accelerated to the seven-million milestone, showcasing a robust end-to-end supply chain and the effect of scale.
