Since I'm still waiting on parts from ElectroAuto, I decided to take the plunge and do some extensive research on Lead-Acid battery technology. The 914 AC kit uses 8V golf cart batteries and I'm wondering if different batteries like Hawkers or Optima Yellow-Top batteries would be better.

After much time on the phone with UPS Freight, the 8-volt golf cart batteries finally showed up today! Here is the pallet of batteries in the truck bay, minus the shrink wrap. Although the Bill of Lading clearly stated that this was a residence requiring a liftgate, UPS seemed to overlook that part of the order.

So, given that it's cold and rainy for a few months and I have the suspension, I decided to start the conversion, despite not having all the parts from ElectroAuto yet. Maybe I'll take a day off to go to A & P as well as Farwest Golf Carts to pick up some old 8V golf cart batteries for desulfation testing.
