GECF: more than a quarter of 2050 natural gas supply untapped

Yet-to-find (YTF) resources will contribute to around 30% of the total production of natural gas worldwide by 2050, according to Yury Sentyurin, the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF). According to Sentyurin, around 80% of the natural gas production by mid-century will stem from new projects, highlighting the importance of continued investment in upstream. Senturin made his remarks during the 25 th Oil & Gas of Turkmenistan Conference.

The road is part of the Trans-Caspian Sea Transit Corridor Baku–Astrakhan–Atyrau–Aktobe–Aktau–Turkmen border, which connects Kazakhstan with Azerbaijan and Europe in the West, with the Russian Federation in the North, and with Turkmenistan in the South. Kazakhstan, rich in natural resources such as oil, gas, and metal, has huge potential for economic development but infrastructure constraints result in significant travel time and cost, and hinder access to foreign markets.

BP and Maersk Drilling will collaborate to develop conceptual engineering designs for a new breed of advanced technology offshore drilling rigs that will unlock the next frontier of deepwater oil and gas resources. BP deepened its equity in the Gila prospect and accessed the BM-CAL-13 lease as part of the acquisition of Devon Energy’s interests in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Azerbaijan, announced in 2010. During the recently completed drill stem test, the Lontra well produced at a stabilized flow rate of 2,500 barrels per day of condensate and 39 million cubic feet per day of gas. The discovery well encountered both a high liquids content gas interval and an oil interval.
