Audi distinguishes between two basic types of lithium-ion battery. The high-energy batteries, on the other hand, are designed for vehicles traversing longer distances under electric power, such as the R8 e-tron. At present, lithium-ion batteries in the automotive sector have an energy density of about 0.14 kWh per kilogram.
